Accessibility statement template for a city website
As of Nov 8, 2026
A plain-text template you can download and adapt. Wayfold is not claiming a statement is required by the DOJ rule; this page quotes no requirement for one. Have counsel review before you publish. Not legal advice.

What it contains
- Your commitment, in your own words.
- The standard you are working toward. ADA.gov refers to WCAG 2.1 Level AA for the rule; confirm with counsel.
- Known gaps, stated only if they are real.
- A named contact and a response time you can actually meet.
- The date you last reviewed it.
Do not claim what you have not verified
Do not write that the site is “fully accessible” or “compliant” unless counsel and testing back it up. The template says what you are doing, not that you have finished.
